i am actually alive. amazingly enough.
Oct. 1st, 2013 05:36 pmWelp, I arrived. I'm alive. And functioning. XD
It's been interesting being here, and there have been some good parts - fuck yes, classes at Masters Level! Whoo! - and some not so good parts - my housemates' irritatingness for one thing, and the fact that my mattress is as comfortable as a slab of concrete for another.
And that's apparently not a word, irritatingness.
It should be.
On the positive side, I love this city.
I've never lived in a big city before and I still don't technically now, but it's certainly something I'd like to do when I'm older, even if it's just for a little while. This is the first time I've been regularly going into one - the city I live in at home for uni is actually just the size of a small town, and only is a city because of having a university and cathedral. Without those, it wouldn't even register on a map.
In Finland, I live just outside the city, about ten minutes by bus, but the only thing that lets you know how close you are is when you look up at night and the sky is orange tinted. During the day, it's very quiet, and calm with all the trees around.
( cut for huge )
The weather's nice - it's blazing sunshine today, actually, and I think I overdressed for what I thought would be a terrifyingly cold day - and autumn is on its way. I keep finding beautiful leaves on the pavement as I walk to and from the university in scarlet and green and yellow. They look like they've been hand dyed.
I miss home. I miss flatness and I miss my family but I'm not desperate to go home yet.
I've made some friends and my classes are definitely interesting even if I'm taking a big step up in some cases.
Remind me to do another update later on. I'm going to Swedish class now :D
