Today, I need to...

0. Finish reading two things for English in Context.
1. Go to English in Context between 10 and 12.
2. Fix learning agreement and take it to the international office to be signed. (Done, but we need to come back and do it again for the spring term before I submit all of it.)
3. Scan learning agreement and notice of attendence.
4. Email both of those back. (attendence certificate)
5. Email Miriam about skype username.
6. Have lunch.
7. Write an abstract and answer cultural imagology questions.
8. Go to Intercultural Communication class between 17:30 and 19:00.
9. Come home. Collapse in a heap from all the walking.

Nrrrgh, quick and dirty update from the land of Finns before I go to Swedish class in ten minutes.

Welp, I arrived. I'm alive. And functioning. XD

It's been interesting being here, and there have been some good parts - fuck yes, classes at Masters Level! Whoo! - and some not so good parts - my housemates' irritatingness for one thing, and the fact that my mattress is as comfortable as a slab of concrete for another.

And that's apparently not a word, irritatingness.

It should be.

On the positive side, I love this city.

I've never lived in a big city before and I still don't technically now, but it's certainly something I'd like to do when I'm older, even if it's just for a little while. This is the first time I've been regularly going into one - the city I live in at home for uni is actually just the size of a small town, and only is a city because of having a university and cathedral. Without those, it wouldn't even register on a map.

In Finland, I live just outside the city, about ten minutes by bus, but the only thing that lets you know how close you are is when you look up at night and the sky is orange tinted. During the day, it's very quiet, and calm with all the trees around.
cut for huge )

The weather's nice - it's blazing sunshine today, actually, and I think I overdressed for what I thought would be a terrifyingly cold day - and autumn is on its way. I keep finding beautiful leaves on the pavement as I walk to and from the university in scarlet and green and yellow. They look like they've been hand dyed.

I miss home. I miss flatness and I miss my family but I'm not desperate to go home yet.

I've made some friends and my classes are definitely interesting even if I'm taking a big step up in some cases.

Remind me to do another update later on. I'm going to Swedish class now :D

Even though today has been so fucking horrible, this happened.

Passing the Year

So yeah.

It's official. Finland is happening. I passed the year with some pretty good marks.

No, hear me out.

I posted a selection of Isaac photos for my 100daysofpretty post a few days ago. A few hours later, my friend, who loves Isaac, gets a private message from him. He's been MIA for MONTHS or something, and he's been on a twitter break too. And yet, that day of all days, he messages my friend, and tells her she's awesome and so on.

And then today - yesterday's was Gs together, after so long of not having anything and then today - WE HAVE THAT PICTURE oh which one, the one I completely missed because I was sleeping that one this one :

And I'm just swooning. It's so wonderful.

Carry on, people.

Oh, one last thing: what would you wish for if I clearly could make these sorts of things happen?
